Bergrennen 2005

On the starting line... The hill has very steep and 3 km's long... the road was positioned on the edge of a huge ravine.

The oldest car in attendance had a calculated average of a INSANE 116.27 km/t up this steep hill!!!  1.33 minutes!!

Download a in-car video from that car here:  http://www.gasburner.net/cal-look/Bergrennen.avi

This is where the racers hang their keys BEFORE they enter the "vorspiel". A very nice touch... just like they used to have in the thirties... I think...

Bergrennen 2005

Man did I have fun this weekend! I had been invited to the annual "Bergrennen" in the Norwegian mountains, "Der Oberst" und his merry men had been doing this for a few years now, but it was a first for me and Splitman. Splitman was sure the "Thündersodder Spezialer" would take him there and back after a successful Hessish Oldendorf trip. He was right... the small Sauer und Sohn 1600 performed flawlessly all the way.

This is the "Oberst" and this years poster!

GASSER TIME!!!

Another hectic weekend, yesterday the cal-look mafia had another burger run (pictures soon), and today I'm of into the Norwegian mountains to take part of the "Bergrenner" action.... And I'm delivering the Hippie bus to the new owner...  well, we can sleep when we get old!

Meanwhile, rest your eyes on this Growler!! It's easy to see that this is no cal-looker... remember, no stickers on body ;-)

Friday at last!! GAS GAS GASSSSSssSS!!

After work today I'm leaving for the huge Ekeberg swapmeet...  mostly shit, but some good stuff also... After what I hear a belgian ponytailed blogger will atend... ?

Last Friday I made a mistake...  I said it was the Inch Pincher, but luckily I "Speedwell" corrected my error... He is right the car IS infact the early Mousetrap and the compressor is not a Shorrock, it's a McCulloch / Paxton acording to Sven-Olof Brorsson, this picture is from his arcives... take good care of it!

Progress in the barn...

Repairing rust in the rear chock absorber area is a tedious job if you want the result to be invisible. Just a few spot-welds left to do, before I start on the driver side heater channel. O joy :-)

Friday at last!!

A under the skirt picture of the Inch Pincher does the trick for us this time...  a bulky but cool Shoorock supercharger necessitates engine hood standoff's...  and don't you just love the sight of those exhaust pipes??  Does anybody know anything about that system?

Diamond in the rough!! or "Acid Trip"

Diamond in the rough!! or "Acid Trip"

Have you ever seen a cooler hippi bus??  Look what I found, a pretty darn solid 65 panel, with a truly amazing paint job! The panel is 12 volt and has a lowered front beam, 14" wheels up front and meaty 356 rims at the back... in the rear a healty (?) 1500 reside. The rust is confined to the bottom of the dog legs and two jack points...  and the rear end of the sills. The frame is perfect, as is the outriggers AND the cargo floor!  As Norwegian busses go, this one is cherry!
My head goes into overdrive when I look at this one... !!

SCC is over, life must go on...

"Birkel" from Østersund is the owner of this nice roof, in my eyes this car had a LOT of potential, but hey, I could have used it exactly like it is too...  it had some serious attitude... !
